Hello! I’m Ruth – a writer and award-winning blogger based in Devon, UK. I’ve written for a variety of print and online publications including Devon Life, Exeter Life, Christian Today, The Herald (Plymouth, UK) and many others (see Articles).
I studied BA (Hons) Geography with International Relations at Plymouth University where I achieved a first class honours degree. Before attending university, I was awarded a scholarship from the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to undertake conservation work as part of a gap year to the USA. I love meeting new people and visiting new places – both of these experiences have shaped me as a writer.
I am also a wife and mum who enjoys reading, walking in the country, taking photos, having good conversations, speaking about Jesus to others, watching the odd bit of Netflix, eating chocolate/cake/chocolate cake and spending time with family and friends. My favourite chore is hanging out the washing and sorting/organising, I love the colour blue, I have a soft spot for the USA, my love language is best expressed through book tokens and boxes of chocolates and I am trying to be more courageous.
About my blog – The Mustard Seed
The Mustard Seed started in 2011 as a way to share my thoughts of undergoing treatment for cancer and still trusting in God through it. It continues to reflect my faith in God in everyday life and I hope others will be encouraged through my words. In 2016, I won Premier Digital’s Young Blogger of the Year award which is a testimony to where this journey started to now and God’s faithfulness each step of the way.
