Well, I suppose I should get more acquainted with this ‘blog’ so here goes my second attempt at a ‘post’. I’d like to start writing something worth writing about, but at the moment I really haven’t got a direction…
I have finished my first assignment for a creative writing course that I enrolled on. It has taken me longer than I intended but it feels good to actually be writing something again! I love the feeling I get when something is completed, but the satisfaction that writing brings me is such a joy. I really want to keep it up because not only do I enjoy it, but the prospect of getting paid for it one day is really quite awesome. I have been writing since I can remember. I always loved English at school. I went through a massive poetry phase in my early teens but have moved away from this form of writing for now. My attention is more drawn toward writing a successful book, travel writing and screenwriting. I just love to mess with words and see what I can come up with!
Since I have suspended my studies for a while, I have also been tucking into literature again. It is so lovely to actually sit down and enjoy a book that is not just related to geography! I have discovered David Nicholls as an author and have read all three of his novels. He is writing a fourth at the moment and I look forward to its release. The movie ‘One Day’ is being released on 26th August 2011 and I have a feeling that it will definitely not match the book. That novel made me laugh and cry so many times, it just has to be a favourite of mine. Erica James is another author that I would definitely like to be reading more of. Her book ‘It’s the Little Things’ was a page turner and the characters were so easy to believe in. She really got you feeling their individual stories and emotions.
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Update
My treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is in its final two months. This year has been a whirlwind for me. I am growing as a person because of all of the suffering I have had to go through this year. It seems a lifetime ago since I was seeing in the new year and looking forward to returning for my second term of university. God had a very different plan for my life! However, I was reading the book of Corinthians yesterday and I came across a very awesome verse:
2 Corinthians 2:14-15
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. “
This encouraged me greatly as it highlights that as Christians we are with Jesus celebrating His victory (triumphal procession) whilst God uses us to spread the good news to everyone that we meet. I love that we are described as an ‘aroma’. We can reach many by starting out somewhere and then spreading out to all. Such a lovely verse. I am hoping to minister to those around me by being that pleasing aroma for God and using my experiences to bless others.
Anyways, I thought I’d update you as it was definitely due. God bless and take care!
Ruth
Such powerful and beautiful verses!
Than you so much Ashley! 🙂
