If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something

Hi there beloved friend, fearfully and wonderfully made – you are so loved! Come and sit with me for a while…

I understand that there is a battle going on in your heart at the moment. I ache with you and want to stand by your side as you go through this. You are not alone at this difficult time. Surrounded by friends and family is a truly wonderful thing, but I understand that sometimes you feel alone and distanced. You appreciate the love and support of others close to you, and perhaps others not so close who offer their love and support, but no one can understand fully the depth of the pain, anguish and sorrow you are feeling right now. Beloved friend, I want you to know that you welcomed in the loving arms of God. He bottles every tear you cry and numbers every hair on your head. He knows the depths of your heart – the sorrow and pain, the joy and laughter. He welcomes you to cry out to Him in your deepest and darkest hour. He wants you to come to Him, just as you are; whether you are broken in heart and anguished in soul, or whatever circumstance may befall you today or any day.

Be still and give thanks for all that you do have
Be still and give thanks for all that you do have

My friend, it is a tiring, dark and lonely road trying to take up this battle on your shoulders alone. Give it to Jesus – He gives rest to your soul and takes the burden upon Himself. He is not an enemy. Why would an enemy give His life up for you on a cross? If you do not yet know Jesus as your Saviour, I plead lovingly and earnestly that you will see the God that died for you, so you may have life – an abundant life that nothing else on this earth could satisfy. A life in relationship with the living God.

How would you describe what you are feeling at the moment? Are you afraid? Hurting? Downcast? Angry? Upset? Frustrated? Lonely? Aching? Desperate? Anguished? Or maybe there are just no words to describe how you are feeling.

Let me leave you with something that will be refreshing and comforting.

Trust me. I think you need this right now.

Psalm 27:13-14: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Isaiah 41:10: “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand”

Romans 8:37-39: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave you nor forsake you”

My wonderful friend, put your faith in Someone everlasting – The King of Kings, The Prince of Peace, The Everlasting God. This trouble you are facing was never meant to be faced alone. Turn to God – an ever present help in time of trouble. Seek Him out – get talking to others who have experienced the love and peace of Christ! We are called to befriend and love one another, and support each other in everything – to love our neighbours, friends, acquaintances, strangers, as ourselves.

Do not be afraid.

You are loved.

This week at #TheLoft we are sharing the ‘Best of 2014’ by choosing our best post (best is defined loosely in this case!). I felt led to share this post because I heard some very sad news today from Norfolk, and my heart aches with my friends there. I want to be there and give the warmest hug, but, as I am far away, I decided to share this post in the hope that it may bring comfort in some form. Have a look at the others blogging at The Loft this week – always some great insights! 🙂

  2. Thanks for joining the loft and sharing these words. Truly you are a people of the yielded heart. ~Chris~

  3. Oh, Ruth…such tender care and compassion here. It is so hard to see a friend in pain, and it is hard to be the friend in pain. The verses you shared in this post are so very hopeful, and that’s really the one thing we can share, isn’t it – the hope of Jesus. Thank you for sharing with us at The Loft. Praying with you for your friends. May God give peace and hope. Thank you for stopping by at The Loft – I always look forward to hearing from you! Blessings, sweet friend!

    1. Thank you Rebekah – the hope of Jesus is all we need – He is everything! Thank you for your prayers – peace that surpasses all understanding is very much sought. Love hearing from you and value your friendship! 🙂
