Saturdays are peaceful and relaxing. A chance to spend time with friends and family and enjoy the time together. As I look at this picture of me sitting by Mount St. Helens in Washington State, USA, I remember how peaceful I felt and the joy that I encountered when I saw new life springing up in the path of destruction where the volcano erupted in 1980. I went to this same spot when I was 12 and I remember looking down and not seeing much greenery. It looked quite messy with fallen trees and damaged earth. Some of it was still like that when I returned as an 18 year old. But it was wonderful to see vegetation sprouting up and new signs of life.
I think it is great to see how seasons change from the cold winter with the barren trees, to a blossoming, full and vibrant spring with new life all around. I wanted to share some of my pictures from the States of examples of this beauty that we see in the places around us. Places of peace and calm. I want to dance, sing and celebrate the wondrous gift of creation.
